BMW Motorrad Malaysia introduced the New BMW R nineT 100 Years. Limited to only 1,923 units worldwide – a tribute to the founding year of BMW Motorrad – ten units have been made available to the Malaysian market.
Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “A design icon of its era, the BMW R nineT has paved the way for stylish yet powerful roadsters that paint pure passion for SoulFuel over the years. The BMW R nineT encapsulates the great roadster tradition of BMW Motorrad in a particularly refined and sophisticated manner, culminating 100 years of motorcycle construction and a persevering passion for the Boxer engine.”
“As we celebrate 100 Years of BMW Motorrad this year, we are thrilled to present ten exclusive units of the New BMW R nineT 100 Years for our passionate community of riders in Malaysia. The iconic BMW R nineT has always been a model for absolute aficionados and conveys a feeling of nostalgia, representing SoulFuel in its most exclusive form,” de Visser added.
The New BMW R nineT 100 Years’ reduced design language skilfully sets the scene with a compact tank and upright seating position, as well as high-quality materials and stylish design elements. An homage to the 100-year history and tradition of BMW Motorrad, which is inextricably tied to the legendary Boxer engine, the exclusive centennial edition of the classic roadster is characterised by numerous special features alongside an elaborate surface concept. The Black Storm metallic paintwork on the chrome-plated tank is a vital, special feature of the 100 Years edition, as the traditional paint-on-chrome method is a tribute to the 1969 R 75/5.
The New BMW R nineT 100 Years revives the almost 100-year tradition of combining paint finishes and chrome surfaces with the Classic Chrome surface concept. More than a stylistic device, chrome surfaces are characterised by their hardness and resulting high durability, providing good protection against corrosion alongside a radiant, mirror-like shine.
On the New BMW R nineT 100 Years, the sophisticated interplay of paint and chrome is represented by a combination of black with chrome and white double-lining on the tank, complemented by tank grips and a 100 Years badge. The classic chrome finish is also found on the surface of the rear seat cover, while the front fender is painted in black and features white double lining. Rounding off the high quality look is the two-tone black/oxblood combination used on the seat. Further complementing the look harmoniously are numerous black components such as the fork tubes and air intake snorkel.
Standard equipment for the New BMW R nineT 100 Years are LED headlights with daytime riding light, dual speed indicator and rational-speed sensor instruments with on-board computer content, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Riding Modes Rain & Road, drive train and final drive in black finish, rear suspension with fully adjustable spring preload by handwheel complimented with adjustable rebound-stage damping for ultimate adjustability and fully adjustable upside-down telescopic front forks (spring preload, compression stage rebound). Completing the extensive equipment of the model are the Aluminium Package and Aluminium Fuel Tank, as well as the Comfort Package, inclusive of Riding Modes Pro, cruise control and heated grips.
At the heart of the New BMW R nineT 100 Years sits the legendary 1,170cc air/oil-cooled flat twin four-stroke Boxer engine, capable of generating 80 kW (109 hp) and 116 Nm of torque. For reliable braking to match, the New BMW R nineT 100 Years features twin-disc brake with four-piston callipers for the front and a single-disc brake with double-piston floating callipers for the rear. Ensuring peace of mind and greater riding safety, the latest generation of BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is featured as standard.
The retail price (on the road, with BMW Motorrad Malaysia’s All-New 3-Year Warranty and 3-Year Roadside Assistance Programmes, without insurance) for the New BMW R nineT 100 Years is: RM 129,500.00
